We write to
you this time from the United States. We have begun our two-year contract as
Specialized Assignment Missionaries and December 1st we began our “home
assignment,” which will last for three months, until the end of February.
We are
rejoicing at the way God is continuing to use us to reach people. A couple of
months ago we mentioned a family that we met through Israel’s school. Their
little boy, Gustavo, is in Israel’s class. They haven’t been attending church
for some time now and asked us if we knew about any good churches. We just got
an email yesterday telling us that this family attended the nearby Nazarene
church in Pilar on Sunday and that they felt blessed to be in that place and
that they are excited about attending church! Praise the Lord for the way He
works in us and through us to reach His people!
We are
making some good headway on our deputation tour and have more churches
confirmed on our speaking schedule. We will be sharing with churches in Texas,
New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Missouri . Please continue to pray with us as these
details fall into place. Jessica: For me it has been somewhat anxiety-producing
to not have things all into place. I may feel out of control, but in God’s
hands, I have nothing to worry about. He is in control and I can rest in that
promise.

recently attended another Holiness Summit in Neuquen, Argentina. Neuquen is
about 1,100 kilometers southwest of Buenos Aires.

When we
arrived there we didn’t know how our plans were going to turn out. Plan A was
that the General Superintendent would speak in the meetings, as well as the
Regional Director; but because of political protests in the airport, their
flights were canceled. So we had to go with our Plan B. There were four of us
who arrived in Neuquen by land and we each had a specific topic to cover; each
of us had prepared our sermon separately. It was awesome to see how God took
our messages and made them flow as if a waterfall. Each of the four messages
connected to the next until all had preached their part.

During this
assembly two pastors were ordained and a group of laypersons received their
ministerial licenses. A church was also officially organized; this is a
district that is really growing. This district, like the one where Rosario
(Entre Rios) is, has become an arrowhead of impressive numerical growth. The
trip culminated with a conference by Nineye Herrera, pastor of the House of
Prayer Church in Cali, Colombia. This is the largest Nazarene church and has
8,000 members. She shared with us about the way that they have grown and she
challenged us to pray and fast. She emphasized that no vision or strategy will
be successful if it is not covered with fasting and prayer. (This next
statement works in Spanish better than English because of the word play, although
the principle remains the same.) She told us, “He who doesn’t pray, the devil
devours, he who does fast, the devil has for breakfast.”

We have
commented before about the cell group that we attend weekly. We have some
exciting news coming out of this weekly Bible study. Since the cell group is
made up of mostly women, and where there are women, there are usually children;
we noticed that there were lots of distractions during our Bible study time.
Wilmar suggested that Jessica put together a little lesson for the kiddos, to
do at the same time as their mothers’ study. During the first study about 7
children participated. It has been exciting to be a part of teaching them,
because these children know very little about the Bible. When we studied
Creation, they couldn’t tell me the names of the first man and women. They are
hungry to learn about God and very eager. They ask good questions and make good
observations. For the second week’s lesson, as soon as we arrived the kids were
asking if we were going to have the class again. I found out in a few more
minutes that they were especially excited about it because they had invited
their neighbor friends to come to the class, also! I had only brought materials
for about 8 children, but we found a way for all 15 of my little students to
take part in the fun of learning about Noah’s Ark. I invited them all back for
the next week and many of them came back and were just as eager and thirsty to
hear God’s Word. Please pray for these children and the children in your life.
It is vital that we tell them the “story” of God’s Word early and often and
help them to continue learning throughout their lifetime.

The other
encouraging event from this same group is among the women and teenagers that
attend. They have been receiving lessons about God’s Word for almost a year
now; just the last 5 months have been with us. On the Sunday before we left
Argentina to go to the U.S. for our “home assignment,” about 25 people were
baptized at our local church. Of the 25, 3 of them were ladies from this cell
group! We are rejoicing at the way God is working in the lives of these
families!
We will be
traveling to different churches each week during our time in the United States.
Our first service is Christmas Day and then we start back up again in January
and all through February. We will be sharing with the people about the work we
are doing and about missions. We are looking forward to our time meeting new
people and encouraging them and being blessed by them. One of the reasons we
take the time to do this is to raise money for our deputation fund. We will use
the money in this fund primarily to finish paying off the vehicle we purchased
in Argentina. If any of you are interested in contributing to this fund, I have
included giving information after the Spanish text, at the end of this entry.
We would
like to express how much we appreciate you who have prayed for us. Without your
prayers, we would not have made it through the last 8 months. Likewise, we want
to thank those of you who were able to contribute to us financially: some with
a one-time gift, others on a regular basis. It would have not been possible for
us to live and minister in Argentina without your financial support. May God
bless each of you for your faithfulness to do what He has asked you to do.

Querida familia y amigos:
Esta vez les escribimos desde los
Estados unidos. Acabamos de comenzar un contrato de dos años como Misioneros
Asignados y a partir del primero de diciembre comenzamos una gira en este país
por tres meses para promocionar las misiones, esta concluirá el último día de
febrero.
Nos regocijamos en la manera que
Dios nos está usando para ministrar a otros. Hace un par de meses atrás
mencionamos algo acerca de una familia que conocimos en la escuela de Isra. Su
hijo Gustavo está en la misma clase con Isra. Últimamente esta familia había
dejado de asistir a la iglesia y nos preguntaron si podríamos recomendarle
alguna “buena” iglesia donde ellos pudiesen crecer. Ayer recibimos un correo de
la iglesia del Nazareno en Pilar, diciéndonos que esta familia llegó a la
iglesia y que estaban muy gozosos y contentos de haber asistido a nuestra
iglesia. Alabado sea el Señor por la manera en la que él trabaja en y a través
de nosotros para alcanzar a otros para su reino.
En nuestra gira que hemos comenzado
nos está yendo mejor, ya que hemos agendado nuevas iglesias en nuestro
calendario. Estaremos visitando algunas iglesias en Texas, Nuevo México,
Oklahoma y Missouri. Por favor continúen orando por nosotros ya que todavía hay
detalles que necesitamos resolver: Jessica, un poco estresada por todo el
trajín que esto conlleva. “Me siento que no puedo controlar algunas cosas, pero
sé que en las manos de Dios no tengo nada de qué preocuparme, él tiene el
control y puedo descansar en sus promesas”.

Wilmar recientemente estuvo en una
Conferencia de Santidad en Neuquen, esto está a unos 1,100 Km al sur oeste del
país.
Cuando llegamos allá no sabíamos cómo los planes nos iban a salir. La idea era que el Superintendente general hablaría en las reuniones, así como también el Director regional; pero debido a ciertas protestas en el área de aviación, sus vuelos fueron cancelados, así que tuvimos que echar a andar el plan B. Éramos cuatro los que viajábamos por tierra así que cada uno tendría un tema específico para hablar, cada uno lo preparó sin ningún previo acuerdo entre sí y fue lindo ver como nuestros mensajes fluyeron como cascada. El primero conectaba el segundo, el segundo al tercero y así sucesivamente.

En esta reunión fueron ordenados dos
pastores así como la presentación de licencias ministeriales a un grupo de
laicos. También una iglesia fue organizada. Es un distrito que está creciendo
mucho. Este distrito como el distrito de Rosario- Entre Ríos, se ha convertido
en la punta de flecha en un crecimiento numérico impresionante. Este viaje fue
culminado con una conferencia por parte de Nineye Herrera, pastora de la
Iglesia Casa de Oración en Cali, Colombia, esta es la iglesia más grande del
Nazareno, cuenta con 8 mil miembros. Ella compartía la manera en que ellos han
crecido y nos desafiaba a orar y ayunar… y hacia énfasis en que ninguna visión o
estrategia tendrá éxito si no está cubierta de ayuno y oración. Ella nos decía,
“El que no ora el diablo se lo devora, el que no ayuna, el diablo se lo
desayuna.”

Anteriormente mencionamos que
tenemos una célula que atendemos semanalmente. Algo nuevo que surgió a partir
de este estudio bíblico. La asistencia de la célula está compuesta en su
mayoría de mujeres y como es sabido, donde hay mujeres usualmente hay niños;
notamos que los asistentes se distraían mucho a causa de los chicos, ya que
tenían que estarlos persiguiendo por todos lados o checando que no se fuesen a
lastimar. Wilmar le sugirió a Jessica que preparara unas cuantas lecciones para
los niños mientras el grupo adulto nos reuníamos. Durante la primera semana
tuvimos una participación de 7 chicos. Ha sido muy emocionante tener este
privilegio de compartir estas clases con ellos porque ellos no tienen
conocimiento de la Biblia o de quien es Dios. Cuando estudiábamos la creación,
ellos no pudieron contestarme cuales eran los nombres de la primera pareja.
Ellos están hambrientos por aprender más acerca de Dios. Tienen excelentes
preguntas y así mismo hacen muy buenas observaciones. En la siguiente semana,
tan pronto como llegamos los chicos preguntaban que si íbamos a tener la clase.
Me di cuenta, unos minutos más tarde, que estaban muy emocionados porque ellos
mismos se encargaron de invitar a otros niños del vecindario. Solo había
preparado material para 10 niños, pero de alguna manera fue suficiente para que
los 15 niños que asistieron colorearan el arca de Noé. Les invité a todos a regresar la próxima semana, muchos
de ellos regresaron y estaban tan ansiosos y sedientos por escuchar la palabra
de Dios. Por favor oren por estos chicos y por los chicos que les rodean a
ustedes mismos. Es de vital importancia que les contemos a ellos la “la
historia” de la palabra de Dios a una edad temprana y continúen aprendiendo de
el por una vida entera.

Otra parte interesante de este grupo
de mujeres y mujeres adolescentes que regularmente atienden a los estudios es
que han estado recibiendo estas lecciones por un año, cinco de esos meses han
estado con nosotros. El domingo antes de salir de Argentina alrededor de 25
personas fueron bautizadas, ¡3 de estas eran de nuestra célula! Y una vez más
nos regocijamos en la manera que Dios está obrando en la vida de estas
familias.
Durante nuestro tiempo acá estaremos
visitando diferentes iglesias. Nuestro primer servicio será el 25 de Diciembre,
y continuaremos a través de todo enero y febrero. Compartiremos con nuestros hermanos
acerca de lo que hemos estado haciendo así como acerca del campo misionero. Nos
anticipamos desde ya a ese tiempo donde nos reuniremos para compartir palabras
de aliento y ser de bendición para ellos. Una de las razones por la que
realizamos esta gira es para levantar los fondos que necesitamos para soportar
nuestra estadía allá. Este dinero será usado primordialmente para la
cancelación del pago de nuestro carro. Si alguno de ustedes está interesado en
contribuir para este fondo, al final de esta carta le proporcionamos como puede
hacerlo.
Nos gustaría expresarles nuestra
gratitud a ustedes que regularmente nos tienen presentes en sus oraciones. Sin
ese poder intercesor no hubiese sido posible atravesar estos 8 duros meses de
adaptación. Gracias a ustedes que con amor han contribuido con nosotros
financieramente: Esos que nos dieron un empujón financiero así como aquellos
que mensualmente se reportan con nosotros con sus ofrendas. No pudiésemos estar
allá ministrando si no fuese porque ustedes abrieron su corazón para dar. Que
Dios les bendiga ricamente por su fidelidad para hacer lo que él les ha pedido
que hagan.
