Dear Friends and Family,
We arrived in Argentina on Thursday and finally unpacked the last suitcase yesterday. First we want to testify to the abundant way that God has provided for us to be here in Argentina, working for His kingdom. We are humbled and amazed at the way he has used many of you to finance this trip and our overall ministry here in Argentina. We appreciate and need your prayers. Thank you to those of you who are faithfully lifting us up in prayer. May God bless your willingness to intercede on behalf of our family.
We also wanted to praise God for a smooth trip from Austin to Buenos Aires. We had no major problems and people were very helpful along the way. We were a bit concerned about getting through immigration and customs once in Argentina, but again, God was faithful to smooth out all of the details. Going through the immigration line the official was more worried about trying to see how cute little Caleb was than about how long we were planning on staying in the country. Hallelujah! Then just try to picture two parents who have only slept a few hours on the over-night plane ride, two fussy children tired of being on the go, 10 suitcases, 5 small bags, and 2 car seats arriving in a foreign country. At least we speak the language! When we were picking up our luggage one man helped us pick it all up and escorted us to the diplomatic line of customs (in which there was no line) and they asked us only a few superficial questions and made no inspection of our 10 large suitcases. God was with us all the way.
The little house we are living in is nice. It is small, but adequate and we have been working on hanging pictures and such on the walls to make it feel more like home. Hopefully I’ll be able to post some pictures on Facebook soon.
On Saturday we were starting to get cabin fever and so we ventured out on our own. We took the bus to the store. The boys enjoyed it until we had to walk a couple of blocks to reach our destination. On our journey we did find some playground equipment and a McDonalds, so they didn’t come out too bad on the deal! When we left the store Israel asked us, “Where is our car?”.
On Sunday we attended a nearby church and were blessed through the Sunday School hour and church service. We were especially pleased that both of our boys, Israel (4 yr) and Caleb (19 mo), also enjoyed their respective Sunday School classes. We just took Israel to the door of his class, his teacher met him, and he walked right in! Again, hallelujah! In the evening after the church service he was already talking about going back to his Sunday School class again.
On Monday we started “working.” We have had the chance to meet with Juan Jose Zani (Coordinator of the South Cone Area) and Carlos Radi (Multi-Ministry Coordinator for Argentina), who are the two we will be working with most closely. They have given us a few more ideas about the work we will be doing and it still basically sounds like what we had originally thought. We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.
We also learned that a medical mission team will be traveling from Illinois (Olivet Naz. Univ.) to Argentina near the end of May. We would like to take advantage of this opportunity to be able to send some more of our luggage (Wilmar’s guitar and up to two suitcases) down with them. The issue is getting the luggage from Texas to Illinois. If anyone will be or knows of someone who will be traveling from Texas to Illinois by mid-May, please contact us or my parents (Jane and Jerry Bohn) at Jawbohn45@aol.com to make arrangements.
We are also working on finding a car to purchase. We have a couple of possibilities and are hoping to be able to buy one soon. Please join us in prayer in this area. Wilmar went to see another one today.
Ways you can pray for us:
1. Purchase of a car – that it would be a good deal and serve us well
2. Cultural adjustments – for all four of us
3. Patience – again for all four of us. Israel especially has been having some hard moments and is easily frustrated. Caleb isn’t quite himself either.
4. Search for a day care/kindergarten for at least Israel

Amigos y familia,
Llegamos a Argentina el Jueves y finalmente ayer terminamos desempacando la última maleta de 10. Queremos testificar que el Señor ha provisto para nosotros de una abundante aquí en Argentina, mientras nos enchufamos en su reino. Nos sentimos humildemente agradecidos y a la vez maravillados en la manera que Dios le ha usado para que fuese posible este viaje. Gracias a ustedes que fielmente nos presentan en oración. El Señor sea bendiciéndole por su voluntad al interceder por nuestra familia.
Queremos también agradecer a Dios porque nuestro viaje fue bastante sencillo. Nada de problemas, más bien la gente nos ayudó a pasar con rapidez. Estábamos un poco preocupados al momento de pasar por aduana aquí en Argentina, pero una vez más, Dios fue fiel en facilitar la situación. Pasando por aduana la oficial estaba más ocupada en ver cuán guapo Caleb era que en, cuanto seria el tiempo que nos quedaríamos en Argentina, una vez más, ¡alabado sea el Señor! Ahora imagine esto: Dos padres que solo han dormido unas cuantas horas en el incómodo viaje del avión, dos niños llorones bien cansados, 10 maletas, 5 maletas de mano y dos asientos de niños para el carro arribando a un país extraño. ¡Al menos hablamos el mismo lenguaje! Recogiendo nuestro equipaje, un hombre vino a ayudarnos y nos puso en la línea para diplomáticos, en la cual no había nadie y solo nos hicieron dos simples preguntas y no se preocuparon por revisar ninguna de nuestras 10 maletas principales. Dios estaba de nuestro lado.
La pequeña casa donde nos estamos quedando es muy bonita. Pequeña, pero adecuada, estamos trabajando en colgar algunos cuadros para hacerla sentir más como nuestra casa. Posiblemente en algunos de estos días colgaremos algunas fotos en Facebook.
El sábado empezamos a sentirnos un poco claustrofóbicos, ya que el lugar está encerrado. Nos subimos en una ruta urbana y decidimos dar una vuelta por el mercado. Los chicos estaban bien, hasta que empezamos a caminar un par de cuadras para regresar a casa en el bus. Cuando salimos del mercado ellos preguntaron: “¿Dónde está nuestro carro?” De regreso a casa encontramos un McDonalds con su patio de juegos, así que esto ayudó un poco.
El domingo fuimos a la iglesia, como todo buen cristiano, y tuvimos un bendecido tiempo. Muy agradecidos que nuestros chicos, Israel(4) y Caleb(19m) también disfrutaron su tiempo en la escuela dominical. Llevamos a Isra a la puerta de su clase, su maestra lo recibió y entro como si hubiese asistido ahí desde siempre. ¡Alabado sea el Señor! En el servicio de la noche él quería ir de nuevo a su salón de clases.
El lunes iniciamos “trabajando”. Nos reunimos con nuestro Jefe (Juan José Zani) El director de todo el Cono Sur y con Carlos Radi (Coordinador multiministerial en Argentina) quienes serán con los que trabajaremos más de cerca. Nos dieron unas cuantas ideas más de lo que estaremos haciendo y todavía suena como lo que se nos dijo originalmente. Los mantendremos informados al respecto.
También supimos que un grupo de médicos de la universidad del nazareno (Olivet) en Ilinois estarán viajando hacia acá a Argentina para finales de mayo. Nos gustaría aprovechar la oportunidad y ver si es posible que este grupo nos traiga un par de maletas más y una guitarra. El problema será hacer llegar estas maletas de Texas hasta Ilinois. Si alguno de ustedes esta o sabe de alguien que estará yendo en esa dirección por favor contacte a nuestra familia Jerry y Jane a su email jawbohn45aol.com para hacer los arreglos necesarios.
Estamos tratando de comprar un carro, hay un par de posibilidades y esperamos tener nuestro carro pronto. Están bien caros por acá y no son lo que yo esperaba. Seguiremos buscando. Por favor ore por:
1. Compra de un carro BBB- bueno, bonito y barato
2. Ajustes culturales, para los cuatro, especialmente los chicos
3. Paciencia para todos, especialmente con Isra, está teniendo algunos duros momentos y es fácil sentirse frustrado. Con Caleb un poco menos, pero no se siente lo mismo.
4. Un lugar para los chicos mientras nosotros trabajamos- Un jardín, daycare, Kindergarten o algo así, al menos para Isra.
